Let's compare some eyeliners, shall we?

I'm not usually one to stray from a liner that I love (for me that's Covergirl's liquiline blast in Brown Blaze). That is, unless I spot something that really intrigues me.

One that really got me excited was the Savvy Soft Glide Eyeliner in Brilliant Brown. I heard an Aussie YTer mention it in a haul and was impressed by the swatch. Once I investigated it in Priceline, it was an insta-buy.

The third contender for this comparison is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon that I received as a gift. I have heard countless raves about these liners, so I was pretty stoked to try it.

Let's start with Savvy...

This pencil is uuuuultra creamy and has pigment for days. And it doesn't move. In fact, if I mess up while doing my liner, I need to work SUPERFAST to remove/fix it because once it sets, it sets. As for the colour, I find it quite delicious. It's a metallic brown with some bronze chucked in. Thumbs up.

I love this pencil, but don't love that I need to sharpen it about 5 times during the whole process of putting on my liner. And no, I'm not overreacting. It just melts. I mean, it glides on beautifully, but there's definitely a price to pay for the smoothness.

All up, I do love this liner. It's a total bitch in the way that it needs to be sharpened so often, but it works nicely. I may buy the brown one again at some point, but for now I'm eyeing the gold.

OH! I forgot. This is a total BITCH to remove. Holy. Prepare yourself.

Now onto Urban Decay...

I wanted to love this liner, as so many do, but I just didn't. The colour is quite pretty (though nothing amazing), but the staying power is average. Despite it's name. In fact, the other two contenders last far longer on my eyes.

I dunno. It just didn't really wow me as much as I thought it would. Tbh, it didn't really wow me at all. I definitely wouldn't buy this, nor would I recommend it. Decent liner, at best. But take the price into consideration and I'd swap 'decent' for 'shit'.

And lastly to Covergirl...

I've been using this liner for YEARS. For good reason. It's got great pigment, staying-power and slides on nicely. And despite it being easy to work with and quite smooth, it doesn't need 100 sharpens a day. Woo.

The staying power is just as good as Savvy's, but if I fuck up my liner (often), I don't find myself having to rush like a madwoman to fix it. Oh, and it's not hard to remove, either.

For me, Brown Blaze is perfect. It's dark enough to make my eyes look nice and defined, but not nearly as harsh as black. Total HG product. 10/10. A++. And so on.

I scrubbed hard at the swatches for the pic below. Mainly so I could show you just how well the Savvy sticks. Covergirl seems to have been mostly swept away with my scrubbing, which is surprising. Don't care though. It stays on my eyes all day long and that's all that I really give a shit about.

Hope you enjoyed! Opinions? Thoughts? Shoot!

  1. Wow the staying power is amazing! I have a savvy luxury liner which is so creamy but rubs off easily.

  5. Woah - the Savvy looks amazing.
But does the UD have glitter in it?
Ugh, the only place I do glitter is on my nails.

  6. Devo to hear that about UD... although I don't rate the one that came with the Naked Palette either.
